The Pastime Trout-Panfish is TFO's entry in the freshwater light-tackle segment, made for stream trout, stocked trout, bluegill, crappie, and similar small-water species with light jigs, small spinners, and soft plastics. It is American-made and sold as a performance option for anglers who find generic spinning rods too sluggish for precise small-lure presentations. Fast action throughout the series allows clean hooksets on light wire hooks.
Blanks are Toray high-modulus carbon fiber with a green pearlescent finish. Seaguide Atlas SS304 stainless guides use a triangular frame geometry that reduces line coil contact by roughly 25% on cast, which matters at 2–6 lb test. American Tackle feel-through reel seats connect fingers directly to the blank for better bite detection. Minimalist cork and EVA grip. One-piece construction across all five models keeps the system lightweight and stiff.
Backed by TFO's lifetime warranty. All five models are spinning, UL or L power, Fast action. The two power tiers (UL at 2–6 lb / 1/32–3/16 oz, L at 4–8 lb / 1/16–3/8 oz) address the gap between finesse micro-jig work and standard panfish presentations. Lengths run 6'–7', with both 6'6" and 7' available in both power tiers. Casting models is absent. No heavy-water applications.
