The TFO Taction Bass is Temple Fork Outfitters' dedicated bass casting series, priced at $199.95 and positioned in the upper-mid tier of the domestic market. It is designed and used by professional tournament bass anglers and based on a broad-technique approach, the nine rods cover most conventional bass casting applications from medium-power finesse work up through heavy flipper-class presentations. The series competes against Dobyns Sierra Micro, St. Croix Victory, and similar mid-tier American-brand bass casting lines. Blanks use intermediate-modulus carbon fiber, which provides a strength and impact-resistance balance appropriate for hard-fished tournament rods without the brittleness risk of ultra-high-modulus graphite.

Guides are Seaguide Hi-Grade stainless tangle-free frames with LS inserts, a braid-compatible choice appropriate for modern bass fishing. Premium cork handles with burl appointments and down-locking Fuji feel-through reel seats contribute to good blank-to-hand feel. A proprietary power color-coding system on each rod helps anglers quickly identify technique pairing. TFO's lifetime warranty against defects with no-fault breakage coverage adds long-term value. Nine rods, all casting, spanning 7' to 7'10". Powers run M through H; actions split between Fast and Moderate Fast. Spinning rods in this specific series (spinning variants exist in a separate catalog entry) is absent.

The lineup is internally coherent: lighter M-power Fast models (704-1, 734-1) suit finesse jigs and worms; MH-power Fast/MF models cover most mid-range techniques; H-power MF models (7106-1, 766-1) handle moving baits, big swimbaits, and offshore-style heavier applications. The 7'10" H MF (7106-1) with a 1–6oz lure rating is a clear outlier for big lures and saltwater crossover use.

Deeper Dive

A closer look at notable models.

TB C 704-1 Casting · 7' · M · MF action

Lightest and most finesse-oriented model. M/MF at 7' is a good match for medium crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and lighter jig-and-worm work where tip softness improves bite detection and treble-hook retention.

TB C 745-1 Casting · 7'4" · MH · MF action

MH/MF at 7'4", an all-around moving bait and reaction lure rod. The moderate-fast action suits bladed jigs, swim jigs, and larger spinnerbaits while still handling jig-and-worm presentations with enough sensitivity.

TB C 7106-1 Casting · 7'10" · H · MF action

Significant outlier: 7'10" H/MF with a 6oz ceiling is a big-swimbait or coastal popper rod, outside the conventional bass casting tool lane. The length, power, and lure range suggest dual use for large swimbaits and possibly light inshore or nearshore applications.
