Purple Haze

The TFO Purple Haze is a dedicated surf spinning series designed for US East and West Coast beach, rocky shoreline, and pier casting. Anglers here are dedicated surfcasters who need reach and power for heavier rigs, pyramid sinkers, chunk bait, and large plugs, in the surf zone. The range of lure ratings (1/2–8 oz) indicates it covers both light plug-and-swim work and serious bait rigs with heavy lead. Blanks are Toray high-modulus carbon fiber with a pearlescent purple finish, two-piece construction.

Guide frames are Seaguide Marine Grade SS316 stainless with super-hard zirconia inserts for corrosion resistance under constant saltwater exposure. Reel seat is a double-locking Alien seat with Delrin accents, a stout choice for the reel loads that come with heavy casting. Grips use flocked rubber shrink and a door-knob butt cap instead of traditional cork, minimizing water absorption. Manufactured in the USA; lifetime warranty against defects. Five spinning models span 9'–11' with powers from ML to H.

The 9'0" M (PHS 904-2) is the entry model, suited to lighter rigs and smaller surf. The two 10'6" models split ML/MF for distance casting light lures and MH/F for heavier baits. The 11' ML (PHS 1103-2) maximizes reach for lighter presentations; the 11' H (PHS 1106-2) handles rigs to 8 oz for deep-water or heavy-current surf where maximum lead is needed. Casting models is absent.
