The TFO Seahunter (branded Tactical Seahunter) is a center-console inshore/nearshore casting series designed by TFO advisor Rob Fordyce for modern boat fishing across a wide range of techniques, casting, jigging, trolling, and kite fishing, from a moving vessel. Primary serves are inshore species such as snook, redfish, cobia, kingfish, and similar nearshore gamefish in the 20–50 lb class. The 13" rocket-launcher-compatible rear grip and aluminum gimbal indicate it is set up for boat harness work on heavier quarry.
Blanks are standard-modulus carbon fiber with a proprietary fiberglass scrim, finished in midnight blue with metal fleck. Action is consistently Moderate-Fast across all five models, a deliberate choice for versatility across techniques instead of the snappy tip of a pure casting rod. Fuji Concept Guides are braid- and saltwater-safe. The 7" fore grip and 13" rear grip are sized for two-handed fighting instead of single-hand casting finesse. Spinning models in this lineup is absent.
All five models are casting rods at 6'–7'. Line classes span 12–50 lb, organized by length and power instead of a simple progression: the 6' models (6050 at 40–50 lb, 6640 at 30–40 lb) cover the heavier classes for short-range boat fishing; 7' models (7020 at 15–20 lb, 7030 at 20–30 lb, and the LB variant at 12–30 lb) provide greater reach for lighter-class or more versatile boat applications. The LB suffix likely indicates a live bait variant.
Deeper Dive
A closer look at notable models.
Heaviest line-class model in the series. Short at 6' to maximize leverage when fighting large cobia or kingfish on heavy class line directly off the boat. Rocket-launcher compatible rear grip handles harness attachment.
Live bait variant covering the widest line-class spread (12–30 lb) at 7'. The LB designation suggests construction optimized for live-baiting, moderate tip that won't impede natural bait action while retaining enough backbone for the strike.
