BattleWhip TR
Tip-run eging rods with carbon solid tips: No Look, Shallow and Deep types, egi 14 to 80 g
BattleWhip TR is Yamaga Blanks' tip-run eging series. Tip-run is a boat method in which a weighted egi (squid jig) is jerked and held near the bottom on a drift while the angler watches the rod tip for a bite. The series aims to handle egi with the feel of a light-game rod, and its rods were among the first Yamaga Blanks models with carbon solid tips. Ratings are egi weights in grams on PE 0.4 to 1, and each model carries a type letter.
Type-N (No Look) models are built to feel bites in the hand so the angler does not have to watch the tip. The TR63/N (2019) is rated 30 to 60 g for 20 to 50 m, with a firm blank that suppresses tip noise in short wind chop. The TR510/N, added for 2026, is a shorter 5'10" rod with a longer solid tip for 14 to 50 g egi, suited to shallow water, small egi and night tip-run.
The TR73/S (Shallow) is the longest model, a 7'3" rod for tip-run to about 30 m with 20 to 40 g egi; its length steadies the egi in long swells and gives wide darts, and it also casts a standard 4号 egi from the boat and fishes bachikon ajing. The TR69/D (Deep) is the power model for 50 to 80 g egi at 40 to 90 m, for fast current in straits, winter deep water and the large squid of the Kuroshio-current regions.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 4 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
