BlueSniper
Shore casting rods for yellowtail, kingfish and amberjack, from PE 2 to PE 6
BlueSniper is Yamaga Blanks' shore casting series for bluerunners: yellowtail, kingfish and greater amberjack from piers and rocks with metal jigs, pencils, minnows and poppers. The name goes back to the brand's early BlueSniper shore-jigging and boat-casting releases in the company history. Yamaga's stated aim for the current rods is recovery rather than stiffness, blanks that bend under load and come back hard, which it calls the line's reliable power.
Five models arrived in spring 2024 in two types. The AR (all-rounder) rods are the 10'3" 103ML-M, an ML tip on an M butt for PE 1.5 to 3, 20 to 50 g plugs and jigs to 80 g; the 10-foot 100M-MH, the main all-rounder of the series for PE 4, plugs of 30 to 80 g and jigs to 120 g; and the 9'6" 96H, a thin, light H-class blank for jigs to 150 g and plugs of 60 to 120 g on PE 6. The PL (plug) rods have flexible tips and smooth actions for diving pencils: the 10'9" PL109MH for PE 4 and the 10'6" PL106H for lures around 100 g on PE 6.
The 9'6" 96L, added for 2026, is a light model for bay and surf bluerunners with 15 to 60 g jigs and plugs to 42 g on PE 2, which Yamaga says still has the power for yellowtail. All six are two-piece blanks of 99.6 to 99.8 percent carbon, priced from ¥54,000 to ¥66,000 before tax.
