BlueCurrent Wizy

4-piece light game travel rods: three versatile models and a responsive 72 in spinning and bait

BlueCurrent Wizy is a 4-piece light game series released in 2025. The name comes from "whizzy", and Yamaga's stated aim was a pack rod that performs on a par with its 2-piece models. All five use 99.8 percent carbon, spigot ferrules and Fuji SiC-S titanium-frame K guides, and close to between 544 and 705 mm for travel.

Three versatile models have a softer, bendier blank. The 610 is for jigheads and micro plugs at 1 to 10 g, with reduced tip stiffness for easier control; the 710 adds stiffness from tip to belly for light carolina rigs and topwater and bottom fishing for black sea bream and light rockfish at 1.5 to 20 g; and the 810 is the long-cast model at 3 to 25 g, with a flexible tip for float rigs and light sinking pencils.

The 72 and 72B share one stiffer, more responsive blank for jerkbaits, minnows, metal jigs and winding techniques at 2 to 21 g, aimed at seabass, black sea bream, rockfish, flatfish and small migratory fish from shore or boat. The 72B is the baitcasting version, which Yamaga recommends for anglers who want one travel outfit for both shore and boat casting. Japanese retail runs from ¥45,000 to ¥50,000 ex-tax.
