EARLY for Boat covers light casting from boats for black sea bream, seabass, Spanish mackerel and small bluerunners, plus flatfish and rockfish. Yamaga Blanks describes a sharp regular taper with a crisp casting feel, built for pinpoint casts to structure, drops into holes and longer casts across open water with the range of lures used offshore.
The 6'8" 68M (7 to 32 g, PE 0.8 to 1.5), from 2022, is the all-rounder for minnows, shads, sinking pencils and walking topwaters, and Yamaga says it bends like a one-piece rod under a fish. The 5'10" 510ML (5 to 21 g, PE 0.6 to 1.2), added for 2025, is a compact model for sharp jerking of topwater lures and minnows and accurate shots at structure in bay waters. The 6'10" 610MH/Bait (10 to 50 g, PE 1.2 to 2.5) is the bait-reel model, aimed at boat rockfish with enough stiffness to feel the bottom and the recovery to pull fish off it; it also takes metal jigs, vibrations, deep divers, 40 to 50 g jointed lures and 150 mm seabass minnows.
All three are two-piece put-over-ferrule blanks of about 94 percent carbon, priced from ¥32,000 to ¥34,000 before tax.
