EARLY for Rock
Shore rockfish rods from 8'6" to 10'4", spinning and bait, rated 7 to 60 g
EARLY for Rock is the rockfish line of the EARLY All Casting family. Yamaga Blanks built the blanks around recovery rather than stiffness: a rod that bends under a fish and straightens quickly, so the angler can wind and lift a rockfish off the bottom before it reaches cover. The tips are given enough firmness to read bottom contact and current changes while staying adaptable to the jighead, Texas and swimbait rigs anglers rotate through, since rockfish species and habits differ widely around Japan.
The three models split by reach and reel. The 8'6" 86MH (7 to 40 g, PE 1 to 2) is the handling length for searching rock areas with swimming jigheads and Texas rigs, and Yamaga lists hairtail wind fishing and seabass jerking as secondary uses. The 10'4" 104H (15 to 60 g, PE 1 to 3) is a long, high-power model set up around PE 1 line, for full casts with heavy rigs, minnows over 14 cm and grouper such as 50 cm oomonhata. The 9'3" 93MH/Bait (10 to 50 g, PE 1.2 to 2.5 or 12 to 20 lb fluorocarbon) has a softer tip and belly for slow Texas-rig work and bottom shaking, with the bait reel's winding power and a strong butt for lifting fish out of structure.
All three are two-piece put-over-ferrule blanks of 91 to 94 percent carbon on Fuji SiC K guides, dated 2021 and priced from ¥36,000 to ¥40,500 before tax.
