EARLY for Surf
Long-casting surf rods from 9'9" to 10'9" for flatfish, seabass and small bluerunners
EARLY for Surf is the long-casting branch of the EARLY All Casting family, built for surf fishing with a light blank and a light casting feel so anglers can keep their concentration through a full day. Yamaga Blanks lists flatfish such as flounder and flathead with minnows, metal jigs and soft plastics as the core use, along with seabass and blackfin seabass from rocks, small bluerunners, mulloway and cherry salmon.
The three models of 10 feet and over date to 2018. The 10'3" 103M (8 to 42 g, PE 0.8 to 1.5) is the easy-casting all-rounder for 9 cm minnows, 40 g sinking pencils, jig minnows and jigheads. The 10'5" 105MH (10 to 50 g, PE 1 to 2) has the strongest butt of the group for driving 50 g lures, and the 10'9" 109MMH (8 to 50 g, PE 1 to 2) pairs a soft, sensitive tip with the reach for plugs around 45 g. For 2021 Yamaga added the 9'9" 99ML (7 to 35 g, PE 0.8 to 1.5), which it says casts like a 10-foot rod and suits finesse work with 12 g vibrations, and the 10'5" 105MMH/Bait (15 to 50 g, PE 1.5 to 2.5), a surf rod for bait reels that allows heavier line and more line capacity with a direct feel for current and bottom.
All five are two-piece put-over-ferrule blanks weighing 155 to 195 g, priced from ¥37,000 to ¥41,500 before tax.
