Lupus for Area Trout
Managed-pond trout rods in retrieve, motion and special-task types, 5'11" to 6'6"
Lupus for Area Trout is Yamaga Blanks' series for managed trout ponds, released in autumn 2024, with the 61STT added in 2025. Yamaga sorts the six models by type: three RETRIEVE models for winding, two MOTION models for actively worked lures, and one SPECIAL TASK model. Compared with BlueCurrent, the blanks carry less overall power and bend from the tip into the belly, but every model keeps butt power for large trout, and the guides are a size larger to keep line flowing when they ice up in winter.
The retrieve models are the 61RM, the multipurpose standard for spoons and crankbaits of 1 to 4 g and a starting point for beginners; the 511RF, a finesse rod for micro spoons and small crankbaits under 1 g on line to 3 lb; and the 66RS, the sharpest retrieve model, with the strongest butt of the three for high-drag crankbaits and heavier spoons cast long. The motion models are the 62MB, a stiff, bouncy-tipped rod for metal vibrations and bottom bouncing that also handles topwater, and the 60MTR, a twitching rod for minnows aimed at large mountain trout and brown trout.
The 61STT is the special-task model, a stiffer 6'1" rod for sight-fishing big trout with long-lip and heavy sinking minnows on 4 to 10 lb or PE 0.4 to 1. All six are 2-piece put-over-ferrule rods with Fuji SiC-S stainless-frame guides, priced from ¥26,500 to ¥29,500 ex-tax in Japan.
