Versatile
One 8'8" spare rod for many shore targets, rated 8 to 40 g on PE 0.8 to 2
Versatile holds a single rod, the 88 CHAIN, which Yamaga Blanks released in the run-up to its fifteenth anniversary and says belongs to none of its existing series. The idea came from shore fishing for bluerunners on PE 4 to 8: the developers wanted one spare rod for the by-catch between heavy casting sessions, such as rockfish, squid and blackfin seabass, instead of carrying a rod for each.
The result is an 8'8" two-piece spigot-ferrule rod of 99.8 percent carbon, 138 g, rated 8 to 40 g on PE 0.8 to 2, with titanium-frame Fuji SiC K and RV guides. Yamaga lists targets from amberjack to about 3 kg and yellowtail to 5 kg, through bonito, Spanish mackerel and dolphinfish, to rockfish, red sea bream, bigfin reef squid, seabass, blackfin seabass, hairtail and black sea bream, across breakwaters, river mouths, ports and surf. It dates to 2023 and is priced at ¥56,000 before tax.
