18 Super Bellezza
Top-priced area trout rods on T1100G with G-MAPS butts, 6' to 6'7"
18 Super Bellezza is the second generation of Olympic's highest-priced area trout rod. The blanks combine Toray Torayca T1100G with Super Quattro Graphite Cross LV, and the butt was the first in the Bellezza series to use Olympic's G-MAPS construction, which Olympic credits with the rod's lifting power. All three models are 2-piece spinning rods with spigot ferrules, titanium-frame Torzite guides on separate thread wraps, and a down-locking separate grip in high-grade cork and burl wood on an original reel seat with an ABS ring that protects the reel foot.
The lineup runs from the 6' GSBS-602XUL (regular action, 0.4 to 3.5 g on 1 to 3 lb) through the 6'4" GSBS-642UL (regular fast, 0.5 to 5 g on 1.5 to 4 lb) to the 6'7" GSBS-672L (fast, 0.6 to 7 g on 2 to 5 lb), with weights of 61 g to 63 g. At ¥63,000 to ¥65,000 they are the most expensive area trout rods in Olympic's range, and they belong to Olympic's Susami brand, named for the Wakayama town where its factories are.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 3 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
