23 Corto UX
Value Corto ajing line, 4'8" to 7'10", hard solid tips and OP-01 seats, from ¥20,500
Corto UX is the value line of Olympic's Corto ajing family, which the maker positions as its ajing entry class. The rods use ultralight high-modulus carbon blanks with a small-diameter guide layout, Graphite Cross LV in the butt section to tune twist and crush stiffness, and put-over (slip-over) ferrules. Spinning models sit on Olympic's own OP-01 carbon reel seat in a down-lock layout with a front-gripless split grip, and most models carry the hard solid tip that Olympic treats as essential for jig-tan ajing, fishing a bare jighead with no float or sinker.
The 2023 relaunch covers 4'8" to 7'10". The 482UL-HS and 542UL-S are short rods for jigheads under 1 g around harbour night lights (joyato) in the summer mame-aji (small aji) season. The 572UL-HS, 612UL-HS and 612L-HS step up through jighead-only models, with the 612L-HS the one Olympic suggests to beginners. The 642L-HS is the all-rounder for jigheads, carolina and split-shot rigs, the 6102L-HS and the PE-rated 742L-T cast heavier rigs, metal jigs and plugs from high ground, and the 7102ML-HS takes floats to 20 g.
For 2026 Olympic added two models, bringing the series to 11: the 26GCORUC-612UL-HS, a bait (baitcasting) jighead rod with a spiral guide layout and an ECS reel seat for jigheads around 1 g, and the 26GCORUS-622L-T, a tubular-tip rod for split-shot rigs, plugs and 1 g jigheads. Guides throughout are stainless-frame SiC-S. Japanese retail runs from ¥20,500 to ¥23,400 ex-tax.
