20 Protone BC
Boat casting rods: 83-3, 83-4 and 84-6 for plugs to 160 g, plus three SAWARA GAME models
Protone BC is Olympic's boat casting series. The original three models, released in 2020, use Torayca T1100G and 4-axis woven cloth over the full length. They are rated by power class and maximum drag: the 8'3" 83-3 takes plugs of 25 to 70 g on PE 4 with 7 kg of drag, the 8'3" 83-4 takes 40 to 100 g on PE 5 with 9 kg, and the 8'4" 84-6 takes 80 to 160 g on PE 10 with 15 kg. They carry stainless-frame Ocean MN guides with SiC or SiC-S rings plus SiC-S K guides, double wrapped on the double-foot guides, a Fuji DPS18 (83-3) or DPS20 (83-4, 84-6) seat in downlock with an SD nut and an original lock nut, and a detachable grip.
The SAWARA GAME models target sawara (Japanese Spanish mackerel) from boats. Olympic sets them up for the casting distance to reach surface feeding and boils, control of blade jigs and minnows, and power for an unexpected aomono (yellowtail and other pelagics). The 7-foot 24GPTNS-702M (2024) is rated to 130 g vertical and 60 g cast on PE 1.5 with a Fuji VSS seat. The 2025 6'3" 632ML and 7'4" 742ML are rated to 40 g and 45 g cast and use Olympic's own OP-02 carbon reel seat in uplock; the 742ML takes the 702M as its base with larger guides, more length for casting and a shorter grip for twitching and jerking minnows.
All SAWARA GAME rods use stainless-frame SiC-S guides, a long separated grip and a put-over ferrule (逆並継), and Olympic notes that they do not use the series' T1100G blank material.
