20 Protone MJ
Micro jigging rods for jigs to 40, 50, 100 and 120 g, two bait and four spinning models
Protone MJ is Olympic's micro jigging series, renewed in 2020 with two bait and four spinning models. The blanks are slim but thick-walled, built from many plies of low- and mid-modulus carbon, with Olympic's patented G-MAPS construction added for sensitivity to bites on the fall and a butt that holds power while it bends. Olympic states each model's action was tuned separately, to make steady retrieves and jerks easier and to let the angler bend the rod hard on a fish.
The number after the length is the power class. The spinning 652-0 is the softest model, close to a full-solid feel, for jigs to 40 g. The 632-1 is rated to 50 g and suits 20 to 30 g micro jigs around 50 m. The 632-1.5 (to 100 g) has a tip that recovers quickly to work the jig, and the 632-2 (to 120 g) is stiffer again for deeper water and aggressive jigging or fast retrieves off the bottom. The bait 642-1 is the 632-1 converted to a baitcasting rod for clearer bites on the fall, and the bait 652-2 (to 120 g, best with 60 to 80 g jigs) is the core model for tai jigging.
Butt guides are stainless-frame SiC-S (LKW on the bait models, KL on the spinning models) with titanium-frame SiC-S K guides toward the tip. The bait models use a Fuji TCS seat and the spinning models a VSS seat; all have an EVA long separated grip and a detachable grip for transport.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 6 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.

Model notes
All 6 models6'3" spinning micro jigging rod for jigs to 50 g on PE 0.8, best with 20 to 30 g micro jigs in water around 50 m deep.
6'3" spinning micro jigging rod rated to 100 g on PE 1, with a tip that recovers quickly to put action into the jig.
6'3" spinning micro jigging rod for jigs to 120 g on PE 1.2, stiffer than the 632-1.5 for deeper water, hard jigging or fast retrieves straight off the bottom.
6'4" bait micro jigging rod for jigs to 50 g on PE 1, the 632-1 action converted to a baitcaster so bites on the fall read more clearly.
6'5" bait micro jigging rod rated for jigs to 120 g on PE 1.2, easiest with 60 to 80 g jigs, and the core tai jigging model of the series.
6'5" spinning micro jigging rod, the softest in the series with a near full-solid feel, for jigs to 40 g on PE 0.8; Olympic states it keeps bending without letting the fish thrash.
