20 Silverado Prototype
High-end chining rods for black sea bream on T1100G and M40X carbon, 7'6" to 8'3"
Silverado Prototype is Olympic's top chining series, built for lure fishing for chinu (black sea bream) on bottom rigs and heavier plugs. The #1 section uses Toray Torayca T1100G and the #2 section adds Torayca M40X, Quattro Graphite Cross XX and Olympic's patented G-MAPS construction. Olympic describes the aim as a crisp, firm blank for casting distance and feel that still bends enough to keep a hooked fish under control. Every model carries titanium-frame Torzite K guides with a flanged top guide, a spigot ferrule and a split EVA grip with no fore grip, so the hand can touch the blank. The series is sold through Olympic's authorised dealers and sits under its Susami brand.
There are three bait and three spinning models. The bait 762ML is the expert bait chining rod for bottom work, the 792M adds plies of high-modulus carbon for bottom rigs and heavy plugs, and the 762ML-HS is the only solid-tip model, a hard solid tip for winter finesse with light rigs along harbour walls. The bait models use a Fuji ECS seat (ACS on the 762ML-HS). On the spinning side the 762ML is tuned for 5 to 7 g sinkers, the 792M is the power spinning model for big fish in deeper water, and the 8'3" 832M, added in 2022, is the long-cast model for rock and cobble edges that run out from shore. Spinning models use a down-locking Fuji VSS seat. Lure ratings run from 3 to 22 g on PE 0.4 to 1.2.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 6 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
