24 Protone UX SJ
Entry-level one-piece slow jigging bait rods for 140, 160 and 180 g jigs
Protone UX SJ, released in 2024, brings slow jigging to Olympic's lower-priced UX range. Olympic gives it SiC-S guides on stainless frames and a blank made of many plies of carbon sheet on a slim mandrel, which it describes as bending deep and staying strong so the fight can be taken on the whole rod. The three models are one-piece bait rods with blank-through construction, a Fuji TDPS22 seat with a hard arbor inside, hard EVA grips and a small round grip end that stays clear of the jerk.
Each is rated by best and maximum jig weight on its power class. The 67-2 (best 140 g, max 200 g) works jigs slowly for bottom fish, or holds a jig still while keeping the same jerking rhythm. The 67-3 (160/280) is the core nearshore model and also moves light jigs or fishes heavier ones deep. The 67-4 (180/350) has the power for heavier jigs in fast current, long jigs for tachiuo (hairtail) and mid-deep jigging for akamutsu (rosy seabass). Line ratings run from PE 1.5 to PE 2.5.
Shaded band: the spread of the lineup's 3 models, as percentile rank among same-type rods. Solid line = series median · dashed ring = catalog median.
