The Black Chrome series is Phenix's dedicated salmon and steelhead casting lineup, designed for anglers throwing or swinging presentations on large western rivers. Target techniques include float fishing, back-bouncing, and casting larger lures or bait rigs for Chinook, coho, and steelhead. Blanks are premium-grade carbon fiber, built for sensitivity alongside the backbone to handle powerful fish in current.
Reel seats are hand-crafted burl wood; handles use a combination of premium cork and EVA. The action is uniformly Fast across all eight models. The series maintains a consistent ML to MH power range across two length tiers, with minimal spread, it is purpose-narrowed instead of broadly versatile. The lineup is split evenly: 4 casting and 4 spinning models.
Lengths run from 7'8" to 9'2". Each length is offered in both casting and spinning variants. Power runs ML (3/16–1/2 oz) and MH (5/16–5/8 oz). The 9'2" length gives casting reach for large rivers while the 7'8" suits tighter runs or bank fishing. There are no shorter or heavier models.

Only MH power casting model in the lineup. Steps up lure capacity to 5/8 oz, making it the go-to option when fishing heavier hardware, larger spinners, or pulling bigger plugs for Chinook. The added backbone distinguishes it from the ML counterpart at similar length.
Longest model in the series. The 9'2" length is suited for large river mainstem fishing where distance and line mending are priorities. ML power at this length still handles typical steelhead hardware weights. Paired with the BCX-S 92ML for anglers who prefer spinning.
