Black Diamond is Phenix's flagship saltwater rod family, built for serious West Coast and East Coast saltwater anglers across stand-up offshore, jigging, popping, deckhand-style live bait, and inshore work. The line is the standard rod family on California long-range and party-boat trips and has a strong following with East Coast jigging and bottom-fishing crews. Phenix is a California company, and Black Diamond is what they are best known for. Blanks combine Toray high-strength carbon fiber with high-modulus graphite using Phenix's proprietary layering and resin system.
The result is a thinner, lighter blank than typical saltwater rods at the same power rating. Components are Fuji Alconite or Alps guides, Fuji reel seats, and Hypalon or X-Wrap grips. Lengths run 6' to 10' with line ratings from 6 lb (light spinning) up to 80 lb (offshore stand-up). About 64 models split across sub-categories distinguished by model suffix. Plain PSW-C numbers are standard West Coast stand-up casting models built for live bait and trolling. The ISA suffix denotes Inshore Saltwater Action with a softer tip for redfish, snook, and inshore species.
DH and JDH are DeckHand and Jig DeckHand variants with extended grips for two-handed casting and vertical jigging. XHJ and XH-J are extra-heavy jigging models for slow-pitch and offshore work. PSW-S models are the spinning variants. Pricing $270 to $360 across the family.
