Black Diamond Hybrid Inshore

The Phenix Black Diamond Hybrid Inshore series is a specialized inshore saltwater casting rod line using a carbon fiber / Kevlar hybrid blank, a material borrowed from aerospace and automotive applications that produces a blank described as lighter and stronger than carbon-only construction. Target applications are inshore and nearshore saltwater: redfish, snook, striped bass, and similar mid-to-large coastal species where blank strength under fighting loads matters. All six models are casting rods in 8'3", 8'8", and 9'2" lengths.

Blanks combine woven carbon fiber with Kevlar, providing impact resistance and tensile strength beyond standard graphite. Alps Centra Lock reel seats with hypalon handles provide corrosion resistance and grip security in saltwater. The Hybrid Inshore is distinguished from the standard Black Diamond Inshore by its guide package, Fuji guides throughout, with superior grip materials. Line ratings (10–30lb) across the lineup indicate braid-to-fluorocarbon leader setups typical of inshore fishing. Fast action throughout except the 9'2" models, which use moderate-fast.

The six models pair three lengths (8'3", 8'8", 9'2") each with two power ratings: L (6-power suffix) and ML (7-power suffix). At each length, the L model carries lighter line capacity (10–25lb) and the ML model handles heavier (10–30lb or 12–30lb). Longer models at 9'2" in moderate-fast action are suited for distance casting on open flats or surf edges. The 8'3" models are the most maneuverable for tight marsh or dock work.
