Elixir (Telescopic Handle)

The Phenix Elixir Telescopic Handle series is a specialty ultralight spinning rod line built for trout fishing, rivers, streams, and stocked ponds, where sensitivity and light weight are primary. The telescopic design here refers to a 2-piece 70/30 split where only the upper section collapses into the handle, outside the full multi-section travel rod lane. This preserves blank continuity and feel while providing a shorter pack format. The target angler is a trout or light-tackle freshwater angler who values sensitivity in a manageable package.

Blanks are Phenix high-modulus Ultra Graphite, marketed as some of their most sensitive material. All six models in this batch are 8' in length with Essex SiC (silicon carbide) guides, a premium lightweight guide choice appropriate to the ultralight application. Two handle styles are offered within the lineup: "XFG" (full grip cork) and "XSG" (split grip cork), letting anglers choose between full grip for total hand coverage or split grip for direct blank contact. Exotic burl wood reel seats are a distinctive cosmetic detail.

At 115g for an 8' blank, weight is notably low. The six models divide into three power tiers, each available in both handle styles (XFG / XSG): FX-S 801-1X (line 1–6lb, lure 1/32–1/4oz) is the lightest tier suited for micro presentations; FX-S 802-1X (line 2–8lb, lure 1/32–1/2oz) is the general-use trout tier; and FX-S 803-1X (line 4–10lb, lure 1/8–1oz) handles heavier streams or coastal cutthroat applications.
