The Phenix Maxim is a mid-tier bass rod series sold as a value entry point into the Phenix lineup, made for freshwater bass anglers who want a performance-oriented blank without stepping up to Phenix's M1 or higher-end offerings. The target angler is a serious recreational or tournament-level bass fisherman who works a range of presentations, finesse spinning rigs, medium-power casting techniques, and heavier power-fishing setups. Blanks use a 30-ton multi-axis carbon fiber scrim with a K-woven outer scrim layer, which Phenix uses to dial in sensitivity without sacrificing structural consistency.

Hardware is above average for the price point: Essex proprietary SiC guides, Phenix exclusive split-style one-piece reel seat, and camo-colored high-density EVA grips. Clip-style hook keeper standard. Reviews consistently note sensitivity as a strong point; quality control has received occasional criticism from some casting rod owners. The 10-rod lineup splits 6 casting and 4 spinning. Casting models run 7'3" to 7'11", powers ML through H, with actions from MF to XF, the 77H XF (MAX-C 77H) is the outlier for power-technique applications like punching or big swimbaits.

Spinning covers 6'10" to 7'7", powers L through M, all fast or medium-fast, oriented toward drop-shot, shakey head, and finesse jigs. No ultralight or extra-heavy models included.
